Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Health Society undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and validity of the published research. The journal applies a double-blind peer review process, which means that authors and reviewers are anonymous. Experts in relevant fields of study conduct the review process, evaluating submitted manuscripts based on scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the scope of the journal.
- Initial evaluation: Upon receipt of a manuscript, the editorial board will conduct an initial evaluation to ensure that the manuscript meets the scope and focus of the journal and complies with the terms of publication. Without further review, the editorial board will reject manuscripts that do not meet these requirements. At this stage, we will reject manuscripts that show more than 30% similarity. The editorial board will check the format of the article and citation style and adhere to the prescribed author guidelines. The editorial board will return the manuscript to the author for reformatting and resubmission if the requirements are not met. Reviewers will receive the manuscript if it has been approved.
- Assignment of reviewers: The editorial board will select two independent reviewers who have expertise in the research area of the manuscript and are experts in the relevant field of study. Both reviewers and authors will remain anonymous to each other. The manuscript should remove the list of author names, acknowledgments, and references to their contributions and include them in the title page file. The assigned editor will then send invitations to the reviewers. We expect the invited reviewers to be from institutions different from the corresponding author's institution. In addition, reviewers will consider the invitation according to their own scientific expertise, potential conflicts of interest, and other relevant criteria. We promise to assign reviewers to our journal within two weeks.
- Review process: Reviewers will evaluate the manuscript based on its scientific quality, originality, validity, and relevance to the field of study. The reviewers usually have two weeks to scrutinize the research work. They will provide constructive feedback to the authors to help improve the manuscript and may recommend acceptance, rejection, or revision.
- Decision: Based on the feedback from the reviewers and the manuscript's adherence to the terms of publication, the editor-in-chief will make the final decision whether to accept, reject, or request revisions. If comments or responses from reviewers differ significantly, the academic editor may invite additional individuals to review the manuscript before making a final decision. The academic editor will send the decision (with rejection, acceptance, or need for major or minor revisions) to the author via the online system, along with any relevant comments raised by the reviewers. As our journal adopts the principle of double-blind, peer-review, all comments and suggestions remain confidential. The average time from submission to first decision is one month, and from acceptance to publication is 2-4 weeks.
- Revision process: Once a manuscript is accepted with revisions, feedback from reviewers will encourage authors to revise and resubmit it for additional review. Resubmitted materials should include the revised manuscript with changes highlighted and a rebuttal letter. Typically, authors are given two weeks for minor revisions and four weeks for major revisions. The major revised manuscript will undergo a second round of review by the same reviewers, who will evaluate whether the revisions have met the feedback provided. For minor revisions, a subsequent review process may not be necessary.
- Publication: Once the manuscript is accepted for publication, the journal will copyedit and format the final version from the authors, this peer review process will ensure that all manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Health Society are evaluated against the highest standards of scientific integrity and ethical conduct and only the highest quality research will be published.
